The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Astros (8-2) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were rolled over by fifth ranked Academia (5-5) 97-77. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Astros. The game was mostly controlled by Academia. Astros managed to win third quarter 19-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Academia had a 31-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for Puerto Rican-Dominican forward Jonathan Rodriguez (196-87, college: Campbell) who led his team to a victory with 37 points (!!!). American-Puerto Rican forward Jose Guitian (207-87, college: Lasell) contributed with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Four Academia players scored in double figures. American guard Brandon Provost (190-90, college: UTRGV) answered with 23 points and 5 assists and international point guard Leonardo Salazar (175-93) added 16 points and 4 steals in the effort for Astros. Astros' coach rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Academia maintains fifth place with 5-5 record. Newly promoted Astros dropped to the second position with two games lost. They share it with Llaneros. Academia are looking forward to face league's leader Bucaros in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Astros will play against Patriotas in Boyaca and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
