Regular Season Round 13: Piratas - UBC Muiscas 88-85

Bottom-ranked UBC Muiscas (0-14) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their 14th consecutive match to fifth ranked Piratas (8-4) 88-85 on Wednesday evening. The hosts trailed by 8 points after three quarters before their 27-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game. American guard Brandon Givens (198-87, college: NC-Wesleyan) fired 39 points (!!!) for the winners. Venezuelan guard Jovanni Diaz (195-92) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds. Givens is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American forward Anthony Stewart (205-88, college: High School) produced a double-double by scoring 27 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and Canadian swingman Dane Smith (190-89, college: Tenn-Martin) added 15 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Piratas. They moved-up to third place. UBC Muiscas lost their fourteenth game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with 14 games lost. Piratas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. UBC Muiscas will play against Patriotas T. (#10) and hope to get finally their first victory.
