Regular Season Round 14: Astros - Llaneros 73-70

The most exciting game of round 14 in the Liga DirecTV took place in Cali. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of second-ranked Llaneros (12-3) to fifth ranked Astros (9-6) 73-70 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Llaneros. Llaneros were tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. The best player for the winners was international point guard Leonardo Salazar (175-93) who scored 19 points and 8 rebounds. Naturalized Venezuelan forward Michael Hinestroza Javes (208-90, college: UALR) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds. American guard Gabriel Belardo (188-89, college: FIU) produced 17 points and Venezuelan forward Juan Herrera (197-81) added 11 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Llaneros' coach Ramon Melendez rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Astros moved-up to third place, which they share with Aguilas. Llaneros at the other side keep the second position with three games lost. Astros is again looking forward to face league's second-placed Llaneros in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Llaneros will have a break next round.
