An interesting game for Llaneros (13-3) which played road game in el Valle against 4th placed Astros (9-7). Second ranked Llaneros managed to get a 9-point victory 88-79. Astros trailed by 19 points at halftime and as many as 20 after three quarters before a 29-18 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 79-88 at the end of the game. Llaneros made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. Llaneros had a 33-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for American guard Gabriel Belardo (188-89, college: FIU) who led his team to a victory with 25 points. Mexican-Puerto Rican guard Joseph Soto (190-93) contributed with 19 points and 5 assists for the winners. American guard Deandre Williams (188-87, college: Palm Beach Atl.) answered with 19 points and 9 rebounds and forward John Velez (202-83, college: TCU) added 21 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Astros. Four Llaneros and five Astros players scored in double figures. Astros' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Llaneros maintains second place with 13-3 record having just three points less than leader Bucaros. Newly promoted Astros dropped to the fifth position with seven games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
