No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Academia (8-9) crushed 9th ranked UBC Muiscas (1-15) in Montana 98-76 on Wednesday. The game without a history. Academia led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Academia outrebounded UBC Muiscas 51-37 including a 37-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. UBC Muiscas were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for Puerto Rican Joel Rodriguez who led his team to a victory with 51 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds. The former international power forward Divier Perez (201-89) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 21 rebounds for the winners. Vincentian guard Chris Telesford (193-88, college: Columbus St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and American forward Anthony Stewart (205-88, college: High School) added 23 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for UBC Muiscas. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Academia maintains sixth place with 8-9 record. Newly promoted UBC Muiscas keep the ninth position with 15 games lost. Academia will face bottom-ranked Patriotas (#10) in Tunja in the next round.
