Very expected game in Tunja where 10th ranked Patriotas (1-15) were defeated by third ranked Patriotas (11-6) 91-82 on Friday. Patriotas trailed by 21 points at halftime and as many as 27 after three quarters before a 34-16 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 82-91 at the end of the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Michael Sneed (196-82, college: Texas Southern) who helped to win the game recording 21 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and Nigerian-American guard Henry Uhegwu (191-82, college: S.Utah) who added 17 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Sneed is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Patriotas' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Edwin Caicedo responded with 20 points and 5 rebounds and Venezuelan forward Luis Almanza (196-91) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Patriotas have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains third position with 11-6 record having four points less than leader Bucaros. Patriotas lost seventh consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 15 games lost. They share the position with UBC Muiscas. Patriotas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Patriotas will play again at home against Patriotas (#3) and are hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
