Tenth-ranked Patriotas (1-16) made lots of trouble for third ranked Patriotas (12-6) in Tunja. The visitors from Boyaca managed to secure only one-point victory 79-78. However their fans expected much easier game. It looked good early as Patriotas took a 16-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Patriotas took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 1 point. They made 28-of-35 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game, while Patriotas only scored nine points from the stripe. Patriotas were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American Jereal Scott (203-89, college: SF Austin) saved the victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!). His fellow American import guard Michael Sneed (196-82, college: Texas Southern) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Sneed is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Patriotas players scored in double figures. Naturalized Venezuelan swingman Hector Diaz (197-92) answered with 26 points and 5 rebounds and American guard De'Sean Mattox (185, college: E.Oregon) added 22 points and 7 assists in the effort for Patriotas. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Patriotas. Defending champion maintains third place with 12-6 record having four points less than leader Bucaros. Patriotas lost their eighth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 16 games lost. Patriotas will play against league's leader Bucaros in Bucaramanga in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Patriotas will have a break next round.
