Regular Season Round 18: Piratas - Astros 81-74

Date: September 6, 2015
The game between fourth ranked Piratas (12-6) and 5th ranked Astros (9-9) in Bogota on Sunday ended with biggest points difference. Piratas beat guests from el Valle 81-74. Astros were trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 7-point lead after three quarters before a 28-14 charge of Piratas, which allowed them to win the game. American guard Brandon Givens (198-87, college: NC-Wesleyan) notched 30 points and 6 rebounds to lead the effort and Venezuelan guard Jovanni Diaz (195-92) supported him with 13 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Givens is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Piratas players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 20 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals by American guard Deandre Williams (188-87, college: Palm Beach Atl.) did not help to save the game for Astros. International point guard Leonardo Salazar (175-93) added 29 points. Piratas have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Aguilas. Astros lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keep the fifth position with nine games lost. Piratas will meet league's second-placed Llaneros in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Astros will play against Patriotas and hope to secure a win.
