Very important is a home loss of third ranked Patriotas (12-8) against sixth ranked Academia (11-9) on Saturday night. Host Patriotas were defeated by Academia in Boyaca 77-59. It looked good early as Patriotas took a 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Academia had a 25-17 second period charge getting the lead and Patriotas were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 59-77. Academia dominated on the defensive end, holding Patriotas to just 6 points in fourth quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Patriotas' 28. Puerto Rican Joel Rodriguez orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points and 8 rebounds. The former international power forward Divier Perez (201-89) contributed with 12 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Academia players scored in double figures. American Jereal Scott (203-89, college: SF Austin) replied with 23 points and 8 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Eddy Barlow (185-81, college: Sam Houston St.) added 22 points and 6 assists in the effort for Patriotas. Academia have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Astros. Defending champion Patriotas dropped to the fourth position with eight games lost.
