Regular Season Round 20: Llaneros - Piratas 78-82

The most important game in the last round took place in Villavicencio between second ranked Llaneros (15-5) and fourth ranked Piratas (13-7) on Saturday night. Llaneros were defeated by Piratas in a tough game at home 78-82. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Llaneros. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 20-12. But Llaneros won second period 23-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. 29 personal fouls committed by Llaneros helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was Venezuelan guard Jovanni Diaz (195-92) who scored 25 points and 5 rebounds. American guard Brandon Givens (198-87, college: NC-Wesleyan) chipped in 26 points. Venezuelan forward Juan Herrera (197-81) produced 21 points and 7 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and center Jhon Hernandez (206-85) added 15 points respectively for the hosts. Llaneros' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Piratas moved-up to third place. Llaneros at the other side keep the second position with five games lost.
