Date: September 27, 2015
The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Azkoitia (0-1) in Azpeitia. Hosts were defeated by Gran Canaria (1-0) 74-67. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Azkoitia won third quarter 18-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Azkoitia 45-28 including a 32-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Azkoitia was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Estela Royo (178-86) who helped to win the game recording 25 points (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). Serbian power forward Nevena Markovic (193-93, college: IUPUI) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. Venezuelan point guard Roselis Silva (166-91, college: Arkansas Tech, agency: Gamble Sports Management) answered with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 11 steals and Russian power forward Mariya Davydova (190-93, college: FIU) added 16 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Azkoitia. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Azkoitia's coach Joseba Guesalaga tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Gran Canaria will play against Gipuzkoa UPV in San Sebastian in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Azkoitia will play on the road against Mann Filter in Zaragoza to get more than just one victory in their record.
