Regular Season Round 1: Penas Huesca - Oviedo 77-75

Lobe Huesca used a home court advantage and edged the opponent from Oviedo 77-75 on Friday night. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Oviedo CB won third quarter 21-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Oviedo CB 36-21 including 26 on the defensive glass. Oviedo CB was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Point guard Lluis Costa (187-93) stepped up and scored 23 points for the winners and Lithuanian forward Gabas Maldunas (206-93, college: Dartmouth) chipped in 9 points and 10 rebounds. At the losing side American forward Jordan Swing (198-90, college: UAB) responded with 17 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Ferran Bassas (183-92) scored 12 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Lobe Huesca will face Melilla Baloncesto on the road in the next round. Oviedo CB will play against Palma and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
