Regular Season Round 2: Akita NH - Saitama Bron. 77-56

Akita Happinets smashed Saitama Broncos at home 77-56. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 13-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 77-56. Akita Happinets outrebounded Saitama Broncos 46-34 including 34 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Akita Happinets especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Saitama Broncos helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Guard Shigehiro Taguchi (184-90) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points. Canadian center Scott Morrison (213-86, college: Portland St.) contributed with 9 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. American power forward Paul Butorac (208-83, college: E.Washington) replied with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds and swingman Mitsuhiro Kamezaki (189-86) added 15 points in the effort for Saitama Broncos. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Saitama Broncos will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Akita Happinets will try to continue on its current victory against Saitama Broncos at home.
