Regular Season Round 1: Cambados - Valladolid 118-105

Cambados used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Valladolid 118-105 on Saturday night. The game without a history. Cambados led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot the lights out from three sinking 17 long-distance shots on high 53.1 percentage. Point guard Sergi Quintela (182-96) stepped up and scored 25 points for the winners and Cape Verdean-Portuguese forward Joel Almeida (195-85, college: Brockport St.) chipped in 25 points (perfect behind the arc making all six shots !!!). At the losing side center Sergio De La Fuente (198-89) responded with 30 points and 8 rebounds and power forward David Ortega (199-84) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Cambados will face CB Granada (#5) on the road in the next round. Blancos de Rueda will play against Zornotza and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the LEB Gold just one year after relegation.
