Regular Season Round 1: Kvarner 2010 - Gorica 81-77

An interesting game for Kvarner (1-0) which hosted in Rijeka Gorica (0-1). Kvarner managed to get a 4-point victory 81-77. It looked good early as Gorica took a 3-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Kvarner had a 20-6 second period charge getting the lead and Gorica was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 77-81. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Gorica to just 6 points in second quarter. Point guard Mauro Veljacic (183-93) stepped up and scored 23 points and 6 assists for the winners and Marko Bakovic (202-93, agency: PEPI SPORT) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. Four Kvarner players scored in double figures. At the losing side Bruno Skokna (190-97) responded with 11 points and power forward Ivan Papac (207-87, agency: PEPI SPORT) scored 9 points and 8 rebounds. Gorica's coach Josip Sesar rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Kvarner will play against GKK Sibenik at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Gorica will play against KK Skrljevo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
