But Vitre was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Mulhouse 72-65 on Saturday night. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Vitre won third quarter 19-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Vitre 39-26 including 29 on the defensive glass. Guard Mathieu Bigote (190-84) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points and 6 rebounds. Center Mourad Benkloua (206-92) contributed with 9 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. American forward James Padgett (203-91, college: Maryland, agency: Octagon Europe) replied with 14 points and 9 rebounds and Desmond Quincy-Jones (201-85, college: Pace) added 12 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Vitre. Mulhouse Basket will face Aix-Maurienne (#13) in Aix-les-Bains in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Vitre will play on the road against UB Chartres (#12) and hope to win that game.
