Regular Season Round 2: Etzella - Contern 96-77
Date: October 4, 2015
Etzella (2-0) crushed at home Contern (0-2) by 19 points 96-77, which is the biggest margin this round. The game was mostly controlled by Etzella. Contern was better in third quarter 30-29. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Canadian power forward Billy McNutt (203-85) notched a double-double by scoring 19 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks to lead the effort and the former international swingman Nelson Delgado (188-80) supported him with 23 points and 5 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Even a double-double of 15 points and 13 rebounds by American forward Jamine Peterson (198-88, college: Providence) did not help to save the game for Contern. His fellow American import forward Kenny Williams (201-86, college: Angelo St.) added 15 points and 8 rebounds for the guests. Five Etzella and four Contern players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Etzella will play against T71 (#6) in Dudelange in the next round where they are favorite. Contern will play at home against Sparta and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
