Regular Season Round 1: Umbertide - Lucca 37-75

An interesting game where Lucca crushed host Umbertide with 38-point difference 75-37 on Sunday evening. The game without a history. Lucca led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Umbertide to just 6 points in second quarter. Lucca dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Umbertide's 24. They outrebounded Umbertide 37-25 including 27 on the defensive glass. American forward Kayla Pedersen (193-89, college: Stanford, agency: LBM Management) stepped up and scored 21 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and American-New Zealand guard Jillian Harmon (185-87, college: Stanford, agency: Players Group) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds. Four Lucca players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Meighan Simmons (175-92, college: Tennessee) responded with 15 points and Croatian center Ivana Tikvic (189-94) scored 8 points and 6 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lucca will meet at home Parma in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Umbertide will play against Torino and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
