The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Shimane Magic as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (Akita Happinets) loss. Shimane Magic defeated 6th ranked Kanazawa Samuraiz at home 124-119 in double-overtime. Kanazawa Samuraiz was ahead by 5 points after three quarters before a 30-25 charge of Shimane Magic, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in double-overtime eventually winning that period 15-15. Shimane Magic forced 20 Kanazawa Samuraiz turnovers and outrebounded them 47-32 including a 21-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Kanazawa Samuraiz was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Josh Davis (203-91, college: San Diego St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 21 rebounds. The other American import forward Scootie Randall (198-90, college: Temple) contributed with 28 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals for the winners. American power forward Andrew Fitzgerald (202-90, college: Oklahoma) replied with 38 points (!!!) and American-Panamanian forward Gyno Pomare (203-86, college: San Diego) added 16 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists in the effort for Kanazawa Samuraiz. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Shimane Magic have a solid three-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Sendai 89ers and Gunma. Kanazawa Samuraiz at the other side dropped to the seventh place with two games lost. They share the position with 5 other teams. Kanazawa Samuraiz will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Shimane Magic will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked Kanazawa Samuraiz at Ishikawa.
