Regular Season Round 1: Niki Lefkadas - Olympiacos Pireus 55-74

Another exciting game was between Olympiacos Pireus and Niki Lefkadas where Olympiacos Pireus (1-0) crushed Niki Lefkadas (0-1) on the road with 19-point difference 74-55. The game was mostly controlled by Olympiacos Pireus. Niki Lefkadas was better in third quarter 17-8. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Olympiacos Pireus dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Niki Lefkadas' 28. Olympiacos Pireus forced 21 Niki Lefkadas turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Lykendra Johnson (185-89, college: Michigan St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds. The former international swingman Olga Chatzinikolaou (181-81, agency: Josep and Nicolas) contributed with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. American forward Janae Smith (188-92, college: UAB) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds (made all of her ten free throws !!!) and the other American import guard Ariya Crook-Williams (170-93, college: USC) added 14 points and 5 rebounds (made all of her nine free throws !!!) in the effort for Niki Lefkadas. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Olympiacos Pireus will play against Aris Petropolis in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Niki Lefkadas will play against Athinaikos in Athens to get more than just one victory in their record.
