Asefa Estudiantes was not able to use a home court advantage and was smashed by the opponent from Vitoria 85-58 on Sunday night. The game was mostly controlled by Laboral Kutxa. Asefa Estudiantes was better in fourth quarter 19-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Laboral Kutxa made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Laboral Kutxa had a 27-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. Greek center Ioannis Bourousis (212-83) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners and French Fabien Causeur (194-87) chipped in 19 points. At the losing side Serbian center Vladimir Stimac (211-87, agency: Interperformances) responded with 13 points and 7 rebounds and the former international forward Nacho Martin (203-83) scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Laboral Kutxa will face Blusens Monbus in Santoago de Comp in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Asefa Estudiantes will play on the road against La Bruixa d'Or in Manresa and hope to win that game.
