Regular Season Round 2: Grissin Bon RE - Scandone AV 87-68

Grissin Bon RE used a home court advantage and outplayed the opponent from Avellino 87-68 on Sunday night. The game was mostly controlled by Trenkwalder RE. Scandone AV was better in third quarter 21-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Trenkwalder RE forced 21 Scandone AV turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. International forward Achille Polonara (203-91) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Belarusian-Russian forward Vladimir Veremeenko (208-84) contributed with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Trenkwalder RE players scored in double figures. American-Georgian point guard Taurean Green (183-85, college: Florida) replied with 9 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and American guard Alex Acker (196-83, college: Pepperdine) added 12 points in the effort for Scandone AV. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Trenkwalder RE will face AV Cantu at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Scandone AV will play against Armani Milano and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
