Regular Season Round 1: Breakers - Crocodiles 89-81

Date: October 11, 2015
New Zealand Breakers used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Wulguru 89-81. The hosts were already 12 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 27-23 Townsville Crocodiles' run in the last quarter cut the lead to 89-81 at the end of the game. It was a great shooting night for New Zealand Breakers especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. American guard Cedric Jackson (191-86, college: Cleveland St.) fired a triple-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 14 assists for the winners. New Zealand guard Everard Bartlett (193-86) chipped in 19 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Five New Zealand Breakers players scored in double figures. American forward Brian Conklin (198-89, college: St.Louis) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import guard Jordair Jett (188-91, college: St.Louis) added 17 points respectively for lost side. Townsville Crocodiles' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. New Zealand Breakers' next round opponent will be Perth Wildcats on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Townsville Crocodiles will play against Cairns Taipans and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
