Regular Season Round 4: Cadi La Seu - Gernika 54-65

There was no surprise in Seu D'urgell where 10th ranked Cadi La Seu (1-3) was defeated by fourth ranked Gernika (3-1) 65-54 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 11 points. Gernika dominated on the defensive end, holding Cadi La Seu to just 7 points in second quarter. American forward Ariel Edwards (190-92, college: Penn St., agency: Josep and Nicolas) fired 14 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Canadian-British guard Rachael Vanderwal (176-83, college: Boston U.) chipped in 12 points and 5 rebounds. The former international forward Tamara Abalde (190-89, agency: Josep and Nicolas) produced 17 points and 7 rebounds and international center Laura Gil (190-92, agency: Regeneracom Sports) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gernika keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Cadi La Seu dropped to the eleventh place with three games lost. Gernika will face Campus Promete (#12) in Logrono in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Cadi La Seu will play on the road against Azkoitia in Azpeitia and hope to win that game.
