Regular Season Round 6: Hiroshima L. - Takamatsu FA 95-103 OT
Date: October 16, 2015
Bottom-ranked Hiroshima L. (0-4) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their fourth consecutive match to fourth ranked Takamatsu FA (4-1) 103-95. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Hiroshima L. won third quarter 23-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Hiroshima L. used huge pressure winning it 22-21 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 11-19. They outrebounded Hiroshima L. 47-35 including 32 on the defensive glass. Takamatsu FA players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. American forward Nino Johnson (206-93, college: SE Missouri St.) notched a double-double by scoring 30 points, 19 rebounds and 4 blocks to lead the effort and guard Masamune Tate (178-88) supported him with 29 points and 6 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). Even a double-double of 29 points and 10 rebounds by American forward Adam Herman (199-91, college: Concordia, OR) did not help to save the game for Hiroshima L.. His fellow American import guard Andre Murray (188-87, college: Portland St.) added 23 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 6 steals. Five Takamatsu FA and four Hiroshima L. players scored in double figures. Takamatsu FA have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Shiga L-Stars. Newly promoted Hiroshima L. still closes the standings with four games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Takamatsu FA will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Hiroshima L. will play again at home against Takamatsu FA (#3) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
