Regular Season Round 4: KTP Basket - Lapua 99-105

Lapuan Korikobrat can celebrate their first win this season after four consecutive loses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Kotka, where they defeated KTP-Basket (0-5) 105-99. It looked good early as KTP-Basket took a 8-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Lapuan Korikobrat had a 35-23 second period charge getting the lead and KTP-Basket was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 99-105. Lapuan Korikobrat dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to KTP-Basket's 42. 26 personal fouls committed by KTP-Basket helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The game was also dominated by American players. The winners were led by guard Lamont Jones (183-90, college: Iona) who scored that evening 28 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and guard Darien Brothers (190-91, college: Richmond) supported him with 27 points. Even a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds by forward Devonne Giles (203-83, college: Texas Tech) did not help to save the game for KTP-Basket. Guard Lamb Autrey (190-89, college: St.Mary's, TX, agency: Two Points) added 22 points and 4 assists for lost side. Four Lapuan Korikobrat and five KTP-Basket players scored in double figures. Lapuan Korikobrat (1-4) left bottom position moving up to eighth place, which they share with Salon Vilpas. It was KTP-Basket's fifth loss in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. Lapuan Korikobrat's next round opponent will be Salon Vilpas (#9) at home. KTP-Basket will play against Helsinki Seagulls and hopes to get finally their first victory.
