Regular Season Round 5: Gimle BBK - Baerum Basket 86-92

There was no surprise in Bergen where 9th ranked Gimle BBK (1-4) was defeated by seventh ranked Baerum Basket (2-2) 92-86 on Saturday. Gimle BBK was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Baerum Basket made 16-of-16 free shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. Strangely Gimle BBK outrebounded Baerum Basket 46-31 including 19 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Point guard Stian Mjos (183-89) stepped up and scored 33 points (!!!) and 8 assists for the winners and American forward Mike Bruesewitz (201-90, college: Wisconsin) chipped in 22 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Guard Magne Fivelstad (198-89, college: Barry) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 18 rebounds and guard Mikkel Kolstad (184-95) scored 27 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Gimle BBK's coach Audun Eskeland rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Baerum Basket moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Kongsberg and Froya Basket. Gimle BBK lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with four games lost. Baerum Basket will meet Fyllingen BBK (#8) on the road in the next round. Gimle BBK will have a break next round.
