There was no surprise when 8th ranked Salon Vilpas (1-4) was defeated at home by fifth ranked Joensuun Kataja (3-1) 81-73 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 81-73. International point guard Teemu Rannikko (189-80) fired 15 points and 9 assists for the winners. American Lamayn Wilson (203-80, college: Troy) chipped in 20 points and 5 rebounds. American forward Cavell Johnson (205-85, college: UMBC) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Darryl Partin (198-87, college: Boston U.) added 19 points respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Joensuun Kataja have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with Kauhajoki. Salon Vilpas lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with four games lost. Joensuun Kataja will face league's second-placed BC Nokia at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Salon Vilpas will play against Lapuan Korikobrat (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
