Rather expected game when Townsville Crocodiles (1-3) were defeated on the road by Cairns Taipans (2-1) 80-74 on Saturday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. International guard Cameron Gliddon (196-89, college: Concordia Irvine) scored 16 points and 5 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international power forward Matthew Burston (211-82) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Four Cairns Taipans players scored in double figures. American forward Brian Conklin (198-89, college: St.Louis) responded with 12 points and 5 assists and international swingman Clint Steindl (200-89, college: St.Mary's, CA) scored 13 points. Townsville Crocodiles' coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Cairns Taipans will face United in Melbourne in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Townsville Crocodiles will play on the road against Perth Wildcats and hope to win that game.
