Regular Season Round 7: Hamamatsu P. - Kanazawa Samuraiz 75-52

The game between closely ranked teams ended with eighth ranked Hamamatsu Phoenix's (3-2) home victory over 9th ranked Kanazawa Samuraiz (1-4) 75-52 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Hamamatsu Phoenix. Kanazawa Samuraiz was better in second period 15-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hamamatsu Phoenix dominated on the defensive end, holding Kanazawa Samuraiz to just 7 points in third quarter. They outrebounded Kanazawa Samuraiz 44-24 including a 39-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. The game was dominated by American players. Forward Reginald Warren (204-81, college: W.Florida) fired a double-double by scoring 14 points and 18 rebounds for the winners. Guard Terrance Woodbury (201-87, college: Georgia, agency: Haylett Sports) chipped in 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Woodbury is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Hamamatsu Phoenix's coach Tomoya Higashino felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Marshall Brown (200-85, college: Missouri) produced 14 points and 7 rebounds and power forward Andrew Fitzgerald (202-90, college: Oklahoma) added 12 points respectively for lost side. Hamamatsu Phoenix moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Kanazawa Samuraiz lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth position with four games lost. Hamamatsu Phoenix will face again Kanazawa Samuraiz (#11) in Ishikawa in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
