Regular Season Round 4: Hitachi Cougars - Toyota A. 53-79

Bottom-ranked Hitachi Cougars (0-2) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 79-53 loss to fifth ranked Toyota A. (3-1) in Hitachinaka on Sunday evening. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. The game without a history. Toyota A. led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Hitachi Cougars to just 6 points in third quarter. They outrebounded Hitachi Cougars 48-32 including a 29-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of center Mori Binge (180-88) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and international forward Mika Kurihara (178-89) who added 7 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side power forward YouLiai Yunashi-Ai (175-91) responded with 16 points and 7 rebounds and guard Kasumi Takahashi (167-87) scored 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Toyota A. moved-up to second place, which they share with Chanson V-M and Fujitsu RW. Loser Hitachi Cougars still closes the standings with two games lost. Toyota A. will meet at home Aishin Wings (#6) in the next round. Hitachi Cougars will play against Denso Iris in Kariya and hope to get finally their first victory.
