Very expected game when 11th ranked Kanazawa Samuraiz (1-5) lost to sixth ranked Hamamatsu Phoenix (4-2) in Mikawa 63-71 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Kanazawa Samuraiz won third quarter 20-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hamamatsu Phoenix made 24-of-28 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game, while Kanazawa Samuraiz only scored three points from the stripe. Hamamatsu Phoenix had a 30-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. American players dominated also this game. Guard Terrance Woodbury (201-87, college: Georgia, agency: Haylett Sports) orchestrated the victory by scoring 25 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Reginald Warren (204-81, college: W.Florida) contributed with 9 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Woodbury is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Power forward Andrew Fitzgerald (202-90, college: Oklahoma) replied with 12 points and 8 rebounds and forward Marshall Brown (200-85, college: Missouri) added 11 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Kanazawa Samuraiz.
