Regular Season Round 5: Sleza Wroclaw - Energa Torun 78-80

The most surprising game was the first loss of Sleza Wroclaw (4-1) at the home court on Sunday night. Hosts were edged by eighth ranked Energa Torun (2-3) 80-78. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Sleza Wroclaw. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 28-18. But Sleza Wroclaw won second period 21-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American point guard Matee Ajavon (170-86, college: Rutgers, agency: LBM Management) stepped up and scored 21 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and her fellow American import power forward Victoria Macaulay (193-90, college: Temple, agency: Two Points) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds. American point guard Sharnee Zoll-Norman (170-86, college: Virginia) responded with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and guard Agnieszka Sniezek (176-91) scored 15 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Energa Torun moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Sosnowiec. Sleza Wroclaw at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Energa Torun is looking forward to face higher ranked Gdynia (#5) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sleza Wroclaw will play against the league's second-placed AZS UMCS (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
