Regular Season Round 2: Maccabi Ashdod - Ironi Nahariya 74-77

Important game to mention about took place in Ashdod. Ironi Nahariya (1-1) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging Maccabi Ashdod (0-2) 77-74 on Tuesday evening. The guests trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 9-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 77-74. Ironi Nahariya dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Maccabi Ashdod's 26. The game was also dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was Richard Howell (203-90, college: N.Carolina St.) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Swingman Cameron Clark (201-91, college: Oklahoma) chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds. Four Ironi Nahariya players scored in double figures. point guard Diante Garrett (196-88, college: Iowa St.) produced 19 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and forward Charles Thomas (203-86, college: Arkansas) added 24 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Ironi Nahariya will face Hapoel Eilat at home in the next round. Maccabi Ashdod will play against Hapoel Holon and hope to win that game.
