Regular Season Round 3: Bendigo - Canberra 77-66

Rather predictable result when Bendigo Spirit (3-2) won against at home Canberra Capitals (0-5) 77-66 on Saturday. Canberra Capitals were trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 24-9 charge of Bendigo Spirit, which allowed them to win the game. They made 24-of-29 free shots (82.8 percent) during the game. Bendigo Spirit outrebounded Canberra Capitals 38-26 including 26 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Kelsey Griffin (188-87, college: Nebraska) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds. International center Gabrielle Richards (191-84, college: Oregon) accounted for 22 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side. Four Bendigo Spirit players scored in double figures. The former international guard Stephanie Talbot (188-94) came up with 27 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and center Rosie Fadljevic (183-93) added 10 points and 4 assists respectively for Canberra Capitals in the defeat. Bendigo Spirit will meet Adelaide Lightning (#8) on the road in the next round. Canberra Capitals will play against Boomers and look forward to get finally their first victory.
