Regular Season Round 3: Nea Kifisia - Lavrio 79-82

A very close game took place in Athens between Lavrio and Nea Kifisia. Lavrio (1-2) got a very close victory on the road over Nea Kifisia (2-1). Lavrio managed to escape with a 3-point win 82-79 on Saturday evening. Nea Kifisia was trailing by 6 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 17-13 charge of Lavrio, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Nea Kifisia outrebounded Lavrio 41-27 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Lavrio especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. The best player for the winners was guard Jamal Nixon (183, college: Ark.-Monticello) who scored 22 points and 6 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Kappis Petros chipped in 21 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international center Dimitrios Mavroeidis (208-85, agency: Octagon Europe) who recorded a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds and American forward Dustin Hogue (198-92, college: Iowa St.) added 17 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Lavrio will meet at home Aris (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Nea Kifisia will play against Aiolos Trikallon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
