Regular Season Round 3: La Spezia - Civitanova 77-52

No shocking result in a game when La Spezia (3-0) smashed at home Civitanova (1-2) 77-52 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by La Spezia. Civitanova was better in second period 16-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Civitanova to just 7 points in first quarter. La Spezia dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Civitanova's 34. La Spezia forced 19 Civitanova turnovers. The best player for the winners was Latvian power forward Lauma Reke (185-86, college: St.Peter's) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 17 rebounds. Laura Reani (183-96) chipped in 19 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). La Spezia's coach Marco Corsolini felt very confident using 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was center Lucia Di Costanzo (185-92) who recorded 12 points and 8 rebounds and swingman Marica Gomes (168-78) added 15 points and 6 rebounds respectively. La Spezia will face Ancona (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Civitanova will play against San Pietro and hope to win that game.
