Everything could happen in Quilpue at the game between two tied teams. Both eleventh ranked Los Leones and 12th ranked Tinguiririca S.F. had identical 1-4 record. This time Los Leones used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from San Fernando 92-87 on Saturday night. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Tinguiririca S.F. won third quarter 24-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American Travele Jones (203-88, college: Texas Southern, agency: HMS) fired 22 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. His fellow American import forward Stanley Robinson (206-88, college: Connecticut, agency: HMS) chipped in 20 points and 9 rebounds. Venezuelan forward Luis Valera (202-88, college: UTRGV, agency: Duran International) produced 33 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds and the former international point guard Franco Morales (179-92) added 18 points and 8 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Los Leones (2-4) moved-up to ninth place, which they share with CDE Talca and Puente Alto. Loser Tinguiririca S.F. stay at the bottom position with five games lost. Los Leones will face Espanol de Talca (#9) at home in the next round. Tinguiririca S.F. will play against the league's second-placed Universidad Catolica having rather not much hope for a victory.
