The game in Toluca was also quite interesting. Pioneros (2-0) played at the court of Gigantes (0-2). Pioneros defeated Gigantes 83-71 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Pioneros. Gigantes managed to win fourth quarter 20-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. The former international Hector Hernandez (205-85, college: Fresno St., agency: Pro Sports) notched 16 points to lead the effort and international center Adam Parada (213-81, college: Cal-Irvine) supported him with 9 points and 10 rebounds. Even a double-double of 15 points and 16 rebounds by American center Alfred Perez (203-92, college: McMurry) did not help to save the game for Gigantes. His fellow American import guard Rodney Cooper (198-93, college: Alabama, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) added 20 points and 6 assists for the hosts. Four Gigantes players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Pioneros will meet at home Ciudad (#5) in the next round. Gigantes will play against Santos in San Luis Potosi and hope to win that game.
