Regular Season Round 4: P.Panthers - Brunell 64-67

A very close game took place in Portlaoise between Brunell and P.Panthers. Fourth ranked Brunell (2-3) got a very close victory on the road over 8th ranked P.Panthers (1-3). Brunell managed to escape with a 3-point win 67-64 in the fight for the sixth place. Strangely P.Panthers outrebounded Brunell 44-25 including a 36-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by power forward Amy Waters who scored that evening 19 points and 7 rebounds and Danielle O'Leary supported her with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Brunell's coach used entire bench in such tough game. Even a double-double of 17 points, 17 rebounds and 6 blocks by center Claire Melia (185-99) did not help to save the game for P.Panthers. American swingman Nicole Arnone (178, college: Molloy) added 13 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists for lost side. Four P.Panthers players scored in double figures. Despite that victory Brunell went down to sixth position due to points difference. P.Panthers lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the seventh place with three games lost. Brunell will meet at home higher ranked WIT Wildcats (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. P.Panthers will play against UL Huskies in Limerick and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
