Regular Season Round 4: Nowa Sol - Gornik Walbrzych 37-74

Nowa Sol (3-1) recorded its first loss at the home court. Hosts were rolled over by fifth ranked Gornik (3-1) 74-37. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Nowa Sol. It was a key game for the second position in Group D. Gornik held Nowa Sol to an opponent 24.6 percent shooting from the field compared to 50.0 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Nowa Sol 43-24 including a 33-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Gornik players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists comparing to just 3 passes made by Nowa Sol's players. The winners were led by Marcin Wrobel (200-87) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 15 points and 15 rebounds and Rafal Niesobski (189-82) supported him with 10 points and 5 assists. Even 9 points and 5 rebounds by Radoslaw Trubacz (196-94) did not help to save the game for Nowa Sol. point guard Jakub Der (191-96) added 9 points for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gornik moved-up to second place in Group D, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Nowa Sol. Gornik will play against Olesnica (#12) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Nowa Sol will play against Gniezno (#11) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
