Regular Season Round 9: BAM Poprad - Samorin 58-59

The most exciting game of round 9 in the Extraliga took place in Poprad. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 7th ranked BAM Poprad (2-7) to sixth ranked Samorin (4-5) 59-58 on Saturday evening. Samorin made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. The former international power forward Romana Vynuchalova (192-86, college: Penn St., agency: Regeneracom Sports) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and forward Zuzana Mracnova (180-80) chipped in 14 points. Samorin's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was power forward Katarina Petrikova (182-80) with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Adela Kudlickova (166-94) scored 8 points and 12 rebounds. Samorin moved-up to fourth place. BAM Poprad lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the seventh position with seven games lost. Samorin are looking forward to face higher ranked MBK Ruzomberok (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. BAM Poprad will play against Banska Bystrica (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
