Regular Season Round 5: Velez - Andujar 87-83

The most important game of round 5 took place in Velez-Malaga between two undefeated teams of Group D-East where Velez beat Andujar (1-1) 87-83 on Saturday night. It was a key game for the top position in Group D-East. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Andujar won third quarter 14-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. 25 personal fouls committed by Andujar helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Point guard Rafael Pozo (175-88) stepped up and scored 18 points for the winners and forward Ismael Sanchez (193-83) chipped in 13 points and 6 rebounds. Velez's coach used entire bench in such tough game. Forward Angel Vazquez (-95) responded with 27 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and center Diego Perez (204-93) scored 18 points and 8 rebounds. Velez (2-0) keeps a position of Group D-East leader, which they share with Coin and Medacbasket. Andujar at the other side dropped to the fourth place with one game lost. They share the position with Cordoba. They were replaced at the leadership position by L'Hospitalet. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
