Regular Season Round 3: AEK Athens - Trikalla 82-65

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Aiolos Trikallon (2-1) on the court of AEK Athens on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by AEK Athens 82-65. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 10-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 82-65. AEK Athens had a 26-15 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a great evening for the former international center Loukas Mavrokefalidis (207-84) who led his team to a victory scoring 26 points and 6 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). American point guard Chris Warren (178-88, college: Mississippi) helped adding 10 points and 14 assists. The best for the losing side was American forward Demitrius Conger (198-90, college: St.Bonaventure) with 22 points and 4 steals and British Ovie Soko (201-91, college: Duquesne) scored 7 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. AEK Athens is looking forward to face Koroivos (#7) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Aiolos Trikallon will play against Nea Kifisia (#6) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
