Regular Season Round 5: Desio - Volpino 61-70

There was a minor upset when 8th ranked Desio (2-3) was defeated at home by eleventh ranked Volpino (2-2) 70-61 on Saturday. Volpino outrebounded Desio 44-32 including 34 on the defensive glass. Power forward Michele Squeo (206-89) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 18 rebounds for the winners and the former international swingman Andrea Pilotti (196-80, agency: Players Group) chipped in 15 points and 10 rebounds. Volpino's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Alessandro Esposito (201-97) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds and guard Lorenzo Novati (189-85) scored 17 points and 4 assists. Volpino moved-up to eighth place in B. Loser Desio dropped to the ninth position with three games lost. Volpino will face higher ranked Sangiorgese (#6) in San Giorgio in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Desio will play on the road against Varese Coels. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
