Eighth ranked VOO Verviers-Pepinster won an overtime thriller edging 4th placed Basic-Fit Brussels by one point 86-87 on Saturday night. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back getting tie in the second period and winning the second half and won the game in overtime by 1 point. VOO Verviers-Pepinster dominated on the defensive end, holding Basic-Fit Brussels to just 5 points in fourth quarter. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Robert Holcomb Faye (185-84, college: Radford) who helped to win the game recording 16 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. His fellow American import forward Darrell Williams (203-89, college: Tex.A&M-Comm.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 17 rebounds for the winners. Holcomb Faye is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four VOO Verviers-Pepinster players scored in double figures. VOO Verviers-Pepinster's coach Thibaut Petit used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American power forward Julian Gamble (207-89, college: Miami, FL) answered with 20 points and 8 rebounds and the former international point guard Guy Muya (193-83) added 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Basic-Fit Brussels. VOO Verviers-Pepinster (2-2) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Basic-Fit Brussels. VOO Verviers-Pepinster will face Kangoeroes (#10) in Willebroek in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game.
