Regular Season Round 9: Sendai 89ers - Fukushima 97-95

A very interesting game took place in Sendai. It ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 3rd placed Fukushima (5-2) to leader Sendai 89ers (7-0) 97-95 in the game for the first place. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Fukushima. The hosts were already 12 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 33-23 Fukushima's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 97-95 at the end of the game. Sendai 89ers made 22-of-27 charity shots (81.5 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Fukushima turnovers. 26 personal fouls committed by Fukushima helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. It was a good game for guard Wendell White (198-84, college: UNLV) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 41 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds. Power forward Jamal Boykin (203-87, college: California) contributed with 29 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Le'Bryan Nash (201-92, college: Oklahoma St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds and forward Stephan Van Treese (206-90, college: Louisville, agency: Two Points) added 18 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Fukushima. Four Fukushima players scored in double figures. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Sendai 89ers. They maintain first place with 7-0 record which they share with defeated Fukushima. Fukushima at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. Sendai 89ers' next round opponent will be again Fukushima (#3) at home, which may be the game of the day.
