Very predictable result in Salamanca where first ranked Perfumerias Avenida (5-1) smashed 10th ranked Gipuzkoa UPV (2-4) 83-56 on Saturday. The game without a history. Perfumerias Avenida led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Gipuzkoa UPV to just 6 points in third quarter. Perfumerias Avenida made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Gipuzkoa UPV 47-22 including a 33-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. Greek-American guard Jacki Gemelos (182-88, college: USC) scored 12 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and international center Astou Ndour (198-94, agency: Josep and Nicolas) chipped in 12 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Four Perfumerias Avenida players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was point guard Maria Gomez (170-82) with 16 points and Senegalese power forward Oumoul Sarr (185-84) scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Perfumerias Avenida have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 5-1 record, which they share with Girona and Gernika. Gipuzkoa UPV at the other side keeps the tenth place with four games lost. Perfumerias Avenida will face CREF Hola (#9) in Madrid in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Gipuzkoa UPV will play at home against the league's second-placed Argon Uni Girona and hope to win that game.
