Regular Season Round 6: Cadi La Seu - Gran Canaria 94-69

There was no surprise in Seu D'urgell where 13th ranked Gran Canaria (1-5) was outplayed by ninth ranked Cadi La Seu (3-3) 94-69 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Cadi La Seu. Gran Canaria was better in fourth quarter 17-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Cadi La Seu made 23-of-26 free shots (88.5 percent) during the game. International center Laura Gil (190-92, agency: Regeneracom Sports) had a double-double by scoring 24 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals to lead the charge for the winners and the former international forward Tamara Abalde (190-89, agency: Josep and Nicolas) chipped in 15 points during the contest. Five Cadi La Seu players scored in double figures. Cadi La Seu's coach Joan Carles Pie felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was forward Estela Royo (178-86) with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists and American center Emily Evers (196-92, college: N.Dakota) scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. Cadi La Seu moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Gran Canaria lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth position with five games lost. Cadi La Seu will face Mann Filter (#6) in Zaragoza in the next round. Gran Canaria will play at home against Campus Promete (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
