Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked Rivas Promete (3-1) outleveled at home bottom-ranked Barcelona (0-4) 83-62 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Rivas Promete. Barcelona was better in fourth quarter 22-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Guard Regina Gomez (173-82, agency: Josep and Nicolas) fired 26 points (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) for the winners. Forward Marta Blanes (184-77, agency: Josep and Nicolas) chipped in 19 points. Power forward Claudia Baraut (185-94) produced 22 points and 6 rebounds and Laura Segui (-92) added 10 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Rivas Promete have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place in Group B, which they share with Leganes and UCAM Jairis. Newly promoted Barcelona still closes the standings with four games lost. Rivas Promete will face ASEFA Estudiantes (#7) in Madrid in the next round. Barcelona will play at home against Olimpico 64 (#10) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
